The Salone Nobile

The Great Salone Nobile is skillfully painted by Zelotti and Fasolo between 1553 and 1554, when the two artists were in their early twenties.
Here the two imagined and created an illusory classical architecture with large columns and pillars, and in between they set a series of mythological scenes that tell the oves between divinity and mortals.
The narrated episodes are inspired by the Metamorphosis by the Latin poet Ovid, a text that was particularly appreciated in the Renaissance humanistic climate. Among the scenes, Venus and Adonis is pure harmony and probably is the highest moment of the pictorial cycle of Villa Roberti. This scene is the cover of a book by the Regional Institute of Villas dedicated to sixteenth-century painting in Veneto villas.
Of unique and great value are also the figures of Giants and Virtues, painted in the over-doors, in which critics – mainly Federico Zeri – recognized Veronese’s hand and compositional style.

Now, as then, this place is capable of enchanting not only visitors, but also guests of concerts, shows, conferences, meetings and receptions. The Great Hall is always the perfect setting whatever event.
